Privacy Policy

Beforehand (“we”, “us”) provides a used-car buying decision-support service via our website and mobile app. We are based in Victoria, Australia, and handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
Information we collect
- Account details — your email address (and a hashed password, managed by our auth provider).
- Listings you submit — the car listing links, text, or details you paste in to generate a report.
- Usage data — how many reports you’ve generated and basic limits/entitlements, to run free and paid tiers.
- Technical data — standard logs (e.g. request times, errors) needed to operate and secure the service.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive information, and we don’t ask for payment-card numbers (any future purchases are processed by the app stores / their billing providers, not us).
How we use it
- To create your account and authenticate you.
- To generate vehicle reports from the listing you provide.
- To enforce free/paid limits and prevent abuse.
- To operate, secure, debug and improve the service.
Third parties we share with
To deliver the service we share limited data with processors who act on our instructions:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
- Vercel — application hosting and logs.
- OpenAI — to analyse the listing and draft the report.
- Tavily / Firecrawl — to research the model and read public listing pages.
Some of these providers process data on servers outside Australia (including the United States). We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle your information appropriately. We never sell your personal information.
Retention and deletion
We keep your account and usage data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time — in the app under Settings → Delete account, or via our account deletion page. Deletion permanently removes your account and associated data, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal obligations.
Your rights
You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you. To do so, or to make a privacy complaint, email teampingglobal@gmail.com. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Security
We use reputable providers, encrypted connections, and access controls to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect it and to notify you of eligible data breaches as required by law.
Children
Beforehand isn’t directed at children under 16 and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll post the new version here and update the date above.
